Come to the Mountain… Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland!

Categories: Tips | Posted: October 9, 2018 | Comments Off on Come to the Mountain… Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland!

One of the best parts of living in a Kettler Forlines home is the location. We are surrounded with natural beauty and tons of recreational opportunities. A particular favorite is Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland. This geologic wonder is breathtaking and stunning – and so closeby!

  1. Indulge your inner naturalist. Sugarloaf is a paradise of indigenous flora and fauna. You can walk for miles along the trails, logging different species of animals (owls, hawks, wild turkeys, snakes, deer, foxes, rabbits and more!), trees (oaks, poplars, birches, hemlocks), and wildflowers!
  2. Bring your picnic basket. The scenic overlooks are a prime spot for picnics. Since the mountain stands over 800 feet above the farmland below it, the views are outstanding.
  3. Go exploring. Whether on bike, horseback or foot, the trails that meander through Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland will take you on quite an adventure. There are a variety of trails, so you can explore different parts of the mountain every time!
  4. Take a peek at the Strong Mansion. Once the home of the Strong Family, this historic mansion has been refurbished and is one of the most popular event venues in the area. The grounds and gardens are simply stunning.
  5. Be respectful. Sugarloaf Mountain is a Registered Natural Landmark in Maryland that is preserved and maintained by a non-profit founded by the Strong Family in 1946. Though it is privately owned, visitors are welcomed but requested to observe the rules. Sugarloaf Mountain is open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Frightening Fall Fun at Markoff’s Haunted Forest

Categories: Uncategorized | Posted: October 5, 2018 | Comments Off on Frightening Fall Fun at Markoff’s Haunted Forest

Are you ready for the fright of your life? Open now, Markoff’s Haunted Forest delivers the kind of Halloween horror that you’ve been waiting for all year! Two mind-blowing trails and one western-inspired “town” make your spooky visit from your Kettler Forlines home to Dickerson one to never forget.

Just 10 minutes from family-friendly Poolesville, this one-of-a-kind attraction makes for a bloody incredible weekend. (You can even visit on Halloween night… if you dare!) Keep the kids at home with a babysitter, grab your horror-loving friends, and start practicing your best scream face before you arrive.

The first trail is Markoff’s original, and features large, elaborate sets that are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Within the haunted woods, you’ll head both above and below ground for a surprising mix of terror. If you’re ready to come face to face with scenes from your nightmares, this fright is for you…

“Trail Who, Trail Two” is truly a terrifying spectacle, complete with big screens and images that leave you absolutely horrified (in the most fun way possible, of course.) Unbelievable scenes and sets are what make this trail unforgettable, and ensure that your Halloween adventure is as authentic as can be.

Finally, Markoff’s very own haunted town awaits… You’ll be dropped off to the other end of the farm by a shuttle, where you’ll meet the most horrific creatures you could ever think of. This western-inspired town is true to its name, filled with churches, saloons, jails, and so much more. Get ready for a wild ride!

Poolesville has always been dedicated to providing its residents with family-friendly opportunities, cultural excursions, and fun. And we certainly don’t slack when it comes to Halloween… If you love this horrifying holiday, you’ll have a blast celebrating here! We can’t wait to get spooky this season.
