July 21: Bark in the Park

This event is something your children will cherish fur-ever! From 6 to 9 pm, Whalen Commons will transform into a dog lover’s paradise, where families are encouraged to bring their paw-some pooch to join in on all of the fun. There will be a cute dog contest, games for dogs, prizes, a DJ, Montgomery County Police K9 Demos, rescue groups, food vendors, a farmers market, and of course, all of the licks and tail wags you can imagine.

It’s all happen’en down at Whalen Commons from 6 to 10:30 pm, where you’ll find all of your favorite things about the most tubular decade of all, including roller skating, Pac-Man, hacky sack, and more. Make sure to tease your hair and put on your best neon — this event is all about doing it big. And don’t miss a special screening of Goonies at 8:30 pm!

September 21: Poolesville Day

Categories: Brightwell Crossing, Events | Posted: September 28, 2018 | Comments Off on The Maryland Soccerplex is a “Keeper”

Lace up your cleats, stretch your legs, and get ready to channel your inner Ronaldo… the Maryland SoccerPlex is a “football” lover’s dream! About 15 minutes from beautiful Poolesville, this multifaceted sports complex is a popular spot for adults and children alike to break a sweat and have some fun.

In the Reserve at Brightwell Crossing, your spacious and comfortable Kettler Forlines home is where you’ll celebrate milestones, share holiday meals, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Best of all, it’s where you’re surrounded by a town that’s geared toward families growing together and making their greatest memories.

Nestled into Boyds in Montgomery County, the Maryland Soccerplex is a massive facility filled with soccer and lacrosse fields, and basketball and volleyball courts, where people of all skill levels can compete in tournaments, adult co-ed leagues, and children’s camps. At the end of the season, throw a team party to celebrate!

Former basketball player Bob Cousy once said: “Sports create a bond between contemporaries that lasts a lifetime. It also gives your life structure, discipline, and a genuine, sincere, pure fulfillment that few other areas of endeavor provide.” Playing a game that you love alongside teammates in an encouraging, exciting, and fun environment is one of several ways that this complex makes an impact on your life.

As an influential part of the town, the Maryland SoccerPlex stretches beyond sports — the facility, which has children’s playgrounds and picnic areas, and is located near several restaurants and shopping, also holds special events, from exhibitions and fundraisers, to corporate team-building activities and reunions. A true symbol of community, this complex has something for everyone.

If you have fond memories of putting on a uniform and running onto a field or court, your children can experience the same excitement and joy at the Maryland SoccerPlex. And you can relive all of those glory days… Grab your water bottle and head on down; the clock has started and there are goals to be made!

Halloween is a great time for decorating. And you don’t have to spend a fortune making your home look scary and festive. Halloween is the ultimate DIY holiday!

First, decide what kind of theme you’re going for… Scary/spooky? Country cute? Whimsical?  Are you decorating the outside of your home? Outdoor decorations have to be sturdy enough to withstand the wind and rain that comes up in October.

There are literally thousands of do-it-yourself Halloween decorations… from traditional pumpkin carving, to cut-outs of spooky bats and black cats, to eerie floating ghosts, and so much more.

For some ideas, check out:

Whether you go for hair-raising or merely aww-inducing, have fun! And make sure to think of safety first. Be careful with candles, make sure paths are well-lit, and keep decorations away from stairs.
